Campaign Plans 4. Expand the KS-SSD Campaign to broader Club based “Back to School” Project/

Vision for your "Back-To-School Project" for Kiwanis Clubs 2025!

Make your community aware & involved in your Kiwanis Club’s commitment to supporting students by engaging in a high-profile provision of backpacks, computers and other needed school supplies through social service agencies.

We are encouraging Kiwanis Clubs to build their own “Back to School” Project which would encompass the KIwanis-Staples Supply Drive Campaign, but with its own additional fundraising where possible. The Kiwanis-Staples School Supply Drive partnership is a perfect complement and fits into a larger strategy of helping School age children.

• This idea facilitates for certain clubs with a Foundation (CRA#), is the ability to offer a Tax-Deductible receipt to any Donor who requests one. 

This optional strategy, changes the scope of the KS-SSD Campaign and may provide greater flexibility in sourcing products for your Back to school project and may provide a Tax-Deductible Donation route for potential donors. 

• About this idea

  • Several Ontario Clubs are effectively operating this way already.

  • Every year we are asked by Clubs & Stores for a Tax-Deductible Donation Methodology. 

    • We hear about requests to donate in the $25, to $50, even as high as $200 range, if they had a Tax-Deductible solution to offer the potential Donor. 

  • BUT the Solution is right in front of US!

  • Assuming you have a Foundation to work with, (it might be your own or an associated organization’s); CanadaHelps.org provides a seamless methodology for donations, with an automatic tax-deductible receipt, direct deposit to your Foundation bank account and a tracking process. 

  • So there are 2 cases:

    • Monies donationed to your Foundation's Back to School Program Fund would be available to the Club to direct to be spent as needed, all year around. 

    • Monies donated directly to your Club and stored in your Service Account, also much appreciated, would be managed by your Club as needed.

  • At the bottom, below is a screenshot of the Kiwanis Club of East York's CanadaHelps Page with a “Back to School Fund” listed in the Dropdown. 

  • See below for a mock-up of a Bookmark  for my own Kiwanis Club of East York. 

    • On the backside is a QR Code, that directs the user to the our Clubs Canadahelp.org page, complete with a dropdown showing a “Back to School Support for Students” option.

    • BTW, When you modify your CanadaHelps.org page, it offers you the QR Code image directly.

    • This allows you to copy and paste your Canadahelps.org "Back to School Fund" QR code anywhere you wish.
